About Inspired
Inspired Data Solutions was founded in 2004 by John Purnell and has grown steadily since then. We are headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland, the sailing capital of North America. This Information Technology business base is primarily North American, with occasional business overseas.
Our staff of 10 full and part time technologists includes a broad range of experience and technology skills. John Purnell and his entire staff, however, are focused on exceeding customer expectations and delivering more than the status quo. Our ethics are to be active listeners, provide unbiased advice, and be honest and forthright business persons. Inspired Data Solutions is a member of the Society of Communications Technology Consultants (SCTC), an organization that thoroughly vets its members and requires that consultants are vendor independent.
In 2008, Inspired Data Solutions acquired an in-house graphic design department focused on creating printable designs of the highest quality. Trading as CPGD, work products have included designs of high quality museum books, conference brochures, newsletters, fundraising pieces and other visually appealing and easy to read printed materials.
We use a number of tools to electronically accelerate our Information Technology projects. These tools include Microsoft SharePoint, ShareFile, GoToMeeting, and GoToWebinar. These allow us to interact with our clients without wasting our time and their money traveling to the site.

Our Team
John Purnell
President
A graduate of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY and a certified PMP, John brings over thirty years of experience in Telecommunications, Security, and Information Technology. John offers exceptional skills in the area of applying technology and process change to solve telecommunications problems.
John’s analytical skills have served his clients well as he conducted and managed major telecommunications projects while his ongoing membership in the Society of Communications Technology Consultants (SCTC) ensures his independent and unbiased approach.
John’s expertise includes core competencies in: IP Telephony design, procurement and deployment, IT / Voice Infrastructure Installations and migrations, Program and Project Management, Wide Area Network (WAN) design, procurement and implementation, Telecommunications Expense Analysis and Optimization Strategies.
Claire Purnell
Vice President
Claire specializes in book design, but also designs brochures, flyers, annual reports, etc.
Claire founded Claire Purnell Graphic Design (CPGD) to serve the printed materials design needs of clients in the mid-Atlantic area. CPGD merged with, and became a DBA of, Inspired Data Solutions in 2007.
Claire helped to create the digital pre-press department at a leading Maryland printer. This experience was on the leading edge of the transformation from cut-and-paste to digital delivery of files to the printer. Printers have come to recognize that designs from CPGD are of the highest quality and are always printable. Using InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop daily, CPGD designs a wide variety of materials. These include high quality books, magazine and newspaper advertisements, infographics (charts, tables), conference brochures, newsletters, and other visually appealing and easy to read materials. Claire recognizes the need for regular, collaborative interactions with clients in order to produce outstanding end results, delivered on time and exceeding the client’s expectations.
Away from graphic design, Claire - a graduate of Sweet Briar College with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts - is enthusiastic and active in the Garden Club of Annapolis.

Peta Enoch
Project Analyst
Peta is a data analyst and data transformation specialist and also provides IVR configuration services.
Peta’s work with IDS uses her skills in Word, PowerPoint, Visio and Excel to provide multi-faceted support for a variety of projects. An excellent researcher and skilled writer, Peta’s expertise in researching, collecting, and analyzing data for strategic decision-making benefits clients. Using Excel, Peta is able to organize data, export and import data, develop formulae using a variety of functions, pivot table generation, pivot reporting and graphs. She has a demonstrated ability to use critical and strategic thinking to resolve problems that result in creating and maintaining complex, functional spreadsheets.
Peta is dedicated, focused and able to prioritize and finish multiple tasks as demonstrated by her work with a client’s Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system, creating and maintaining Visio diagrams and Excel workbooks documenting the complex variety of options available to claimants. Further, helping to maintain the intricate IVR processes – adding, updating, and deleting scripts and texts as required, and tracing errors through report generation.
Born in England, Peta enjoys traveling world-wide and, while at home in Maryland, hiking with the family dog.
Stephanie Anderson
Director of Administration
Stephanie has 15 years’ experience in planning, budgeting, and organizing the company’s administration and in managing a diverse workforce.
Stephanie’s meticulous approach has proved invaluable to management as she oversees the company’s financial assets and liabilities - including navigating the conversion and implementation of Quickbooks and developing budgets – and prepares reports on the company’s financial status. On the client side, Stephanie’s attention to detail has been critical as she tracks project progress to ensure adherence to budget restrictions.
Ensuring a fair and standardized approach, Stephanie maintains the core human resource functions including hiring processes, onboarding and orientation, and performance management, as well as coordinating and negotiating a comprehensive benefits package, including a 401(k) plan. Stephanie’s supervision of all payroll and benefits administration ensures promptness and accuracy for all employees.
Stephanie has a Bachelor of Science from Mount Saint Mary’s University and an MBA from Loyola University. She lives in nearby Severna Park with her husband and two daughters. Most of her spare time is spent shepherding her daughters through their myriad athletic extra curriculars.
Ruth Compton
Senior Consultant
Ruth is a Sr. Consultant specializing in aviation and contact center projects. She is also one of our senior project managers, especially with regard to software projects.
Ruth brings more than 30 years of Information Technology experience across the aviation industry and State and Local Governments. She has had a result charged career in the startup, growth, and profitable leadership of Information Technology businesses. Ruth has demonstrated expertise in building organizational IT infrastructure, IT products, IT security, and acquisitions to achieve aggressive business goals. She has extensive experience in developing procurement documentation to support clients in acquiring IT products and services to meet their objectives.
Ruth obtained a BS degree in Mathematics from Union College and a MS in Systems Engineering from Johns Hopkins University. She attended the Executive Development Program at Harvard University.
Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Ruth now lives in New Hampshire with her husband where they enjoy riding their 5 horses and playing with their dogs.
Todd Whittle
Senior Analyst
Todd has been designing websites and digital signage for over 24 years. He was formerly a project manager for radio station interactive voice response systems, and moved on to become an online marketing and website hosting support manager for several firms.
Today, he supports the Maryland Aviation Administration as Senior Webmaster, supporting their family of websites and digital signage throughout BWI and Martin State Airports.
Born and raised in Northern Kentucky, Todd enjoys spending time with his kids, watching baseball and football, and helping coach local baseball teams.
Larry Vavrek
Telecom Consultant
Larry’s 28 year career in government agency information technology and public safety includes the management of cellular and PBX phone systems, the management of annual budget and projects relating to fiber and network infrastructure, the preparation of annual budgets for areas of responsibility, and the development of strong vendor relationships.
Larry’s recent focus has been on updating airport crash phones, conducting the onsite evaluation of the existing system, developing revised system drawings, and providing the proposed solution. Additionally, Larry has assisted in the definition of a Unified Communications Project and supported the bid and award process for the new phone system. With the selected vendor, Larry will provide local oversight to ensure all the features and functionality identified in the RFP are implemented.
Larry lives in Florida with his wife, enjoying playing games of competitive tennis in his spare time.
Ola Lawal
Business Analyst
Ola has 9 years of IT experience as a Business Analyst and Scrum Master. He has a demonstrated history in various methodologies and phases of SDLC. His project related experience includes developing end to end processes, identifying and documenting business requirements for new product implementation and for major enhancements. Ola is a detailed team player with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ola was born in Lagos, Nigeria but was raised in the United Kingdom. He lives in Maryland with his wife and three kids. In his spare time, Ola enjoys traveling and watching soccer.
Margaret Agbonifo
Business Analyst
Margaret holds a Master’s in Business Administration (MBA) from University of Maryland, and is a Certified Scrum Master, Margaret brings 12 years’ work experience as a Business Analyst in both government and private sectors.
Margaret has vast experience in the business intelligence operations, project, and service management for software development life cycle (SDLC).
Margaret core competencies includes requirements gathering and documentation for RFP, user acceptability testing (UAT), software applications research, procurement process, project coordination and management.
